While plecos are great at controlling algae, they are omnivores and require a varied diet of sinking pellets, algae wafers, and blanched vegetables like zucchini and spinach. They do best in peaceful community tanks with species like tetras and corydoras, though they can become territorial, especially around food or hiding spots.
