The Albino Algae Eater is an active, hardy freshwater algae-eating fish that thrives in well-oxygenated aquariums with plenty of swimming space and smooth surfaces to graze on. They prefer temperatures of 72–82°F, a pH of 6.5–7.5, and clean, stable water with moderate flow. Provide driftwood, rocks, and plants for natural algae growth, and supplement their diet with algae wafers, blanched vegetables, and high-quality sinking foods, especially as they mature and rely less on algae alone. Albino Algae Eaters can grow 5–6 inches, so they require at least a 40-gallon tank, and they can become territorial as adults—especially toward similar bottom feeders—so house them with peaceful mid-top dwellers or keep a small group in a larger tank to diffuse aggression.
