The Belted Cardinal, scientifically known as Paracheirodon lateralis, is a stunning and peaceful freshwater fish species originating from the Amazon Basin. Its vibrant colors and graceful swimming make it a highly sought-after addition to any aquarium.

Belted Cardinals are relatively small, with a maximum size of around 2 inches. They thrive in a well-maintained aquarium of at least 10 gallons, providing ample swimming space and places to hide among plants and decorations. They are peaceful by nature and can be housed with other small, non-aggressive species.

These fish have an omnivorous diet, accepting both high-quality flakes and small-sized live or frozen foods. Providing a varied diet is essential to their overall health and vibrant coloration.

The Belted Cardinal's unique characteristic is the striking horizontal black band that runs across its body, dividing the vibrant red and silver portions. This coloration is reminiscent of a "belt," hence its name. In well-maintained aquariums with proper lighting, their colors truly come to life.
