The Butterfly Pleco, also known as the L168, is a stunning and unique addition to any aquarium. These fish are characterized by their distinctive yellow and black coloration and striking finnage, resembling the wings of a butterfly.
Originating from South America, the Butterfly Pleco requires a well-maintained aquarium with plenty of hiding places and clean water. They prefer a tank size of at least 30 gallons and can grow up to 4-5 inches in length. The Butterfly Pleco is a peaceful fish that can be kept with other non-aggressive fish.
In terms of diet, the Butterfly Pleco is primarily herbivorous, and their diet should consist of algae wafers, fresh vegetables such as cucumber and zucchini, and occasional meaty foods such as brine shrimp.
