The Firefish Goby (Nemateleotris magnifica), also known as the Fire Goby or Fire Dartfish, is a peaceful and brightly colored marine fish prized for its white-to-orange gradient body, red tail, and elegant dorsal fin. Native to Indo-Pacific coral reefs, this species thrives in well-maintained saltwater aquariums with live rock for hiding and open spaces for swimming. Firefish Gobies are shy but active mid-water dwellers that do best singly or as a bonded pair, as they may fight with others of their kind. They prefer stable, high-quality water and gentle flow. Their diet should include small meaty foods like mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Hardy and reef-safe, they make excellent additions to peaceful marine communities.
