The Glowlight Danio (Danio choprae) is a small, vibrant freshwater fish known for its glowing orange-red stripes and peaceful nature, making it a popular choice for community aquariums. These fish thrive in 10–20 gallon tanks with a moderate water flow and moderately bright lighting to showcase their iridescent colors. They prefer water temperatures between 22–28°C (72–82°F) and a pH range of 6.5–7.5, and while they’re adaptable to different water conditions, regular weekly water changes of 20–30% are essential to maintain their health. As omnivores, Glowlight Danios enjoy a diet of high-quality flakes or pellets, supplemented with frozen/live brine shrimp, bloodworms, and blanched vegetables. They should be kept in groups of 6 or more to reduce stress and encourage natural schooling behavior, and they make excellent tank mates for other peaceful species like neon tetras, rasboras, and Corydoras catfish. However, they can be nippy in very crowded tanks, so it’s important to avoid overly aggressive or large fish.
