The Kole Tang, also known as the Yellow-eyed Tang, is a popular and colorful species of saltwater fish that is native to the Indo-Pacific region. These fish are named for their distinctive yellow eyes and attractive coloration.
These saltwater fish require a larger tank size of at least 75 gallons with plenty of swimming space, hiding places, and live rock for grazing. They are relatively hardy and can adapt to a variety of water conditions, but they prefer a stable environment with consistent water parameters and a salinity level between 1.020-1.025.
The Kole Tang can grow up to 7 inches in length and has a peaceful temperament, making it a great addition to a community tank. They may become territorial towards other tangs or fish with a similar body shape or coloration, but this behavior can often be mitigated by providing plenty of hiding places and swimming space.
These fish are herbivores and require a diet that is high in vegetable matter. They will happily graze on a variety of seaweed, algae, and other plant-based foods, as well as high-quality pellets or frozen foods designed for herbivorous fish.
