Lavender Tang

The Lavender Tang, also known as Acanthurus nigrofuscus, is a sleek, elegant saltwater fish with a beautiful lavender-to-gray body and subtle gradient color that can appear almost metallic in certain lighting. This fish is an excellent choice for reef aquariums, where its unique coloration and active nature make it a captivating presence. Lavender Tangs grow up to about 8 inches in length and are known for their peaceful temperament, though they can be territorial with other tangs.

For this tang, a minimum tank size of 100 gallons is recommended to provide ample swimming space. Lavender Tangs are native to the Indo-Pacific region, where they inhabit coral reefs and rocky areas.

Their care level is Moderate; they require stable water conditions and plenty of room to thrive. A herbivorous diet is preferred, with a focus on marine algae, spirulina, and other plant-based foods to maintain optimal health and coloration.
