The Orchid Dottyback, also known as the Purple Dottyback, is a popular and colorful saltwater fish that is native to the Indo-Pacific region. They require a specific salinity range of 1.020-1.025 to thrive.

 

This fish is relatively small, reaching a maximum length of 3 inches. They have a beautiful purple coloration, with a darker purple color on their back and a lighter shade on their belly. Their eyes are a bright yellow, which adds to their striking appearance.

 

The Orchid Dottyback is a semi-aggressive fish and should be kept with other semi-aggressive fish in a larger tank of at least 30 gallons. They are territorial and may become aggressive towards other fish of a similar size and coloration.

 

To ensure the health and happiness of Orchid Dottybacks, they require a well-maintained tank with plenty of live rock and hiding places to explore. They prefer a temperature range of 75-82°F and a pH level of 8.1-8.4.

 

In terms of diet, Orchid Dottybacks are carnivorous and will eat a variety of small crustaceans and meaty foods. They should be fed 2-3 times a day, and their diet can be supplemented with frozen or live foods.
