The Siamese Algae Eater, also known as the SAE, is a popular and hardy fish in the aquarium hobby. These fish are characterized by their sleek body shape and distinctive black and white stripes.

Originating from Southeast Asia, the Siamese Algae Eater requires a well-maintained aquarium with plenty of hiding places and clean water. They prefer a tank size of at least 30 gallons and can grow up to 6 inches in length. The Siamese Algae Eater is a peaceful fish that can be kept with other non-aggressive fish.

In terms of diet, the Siamese Algae Eater is primarily herbivorous, and their diet should consist of algae wafers, fresh vegetables such as cucumber and zucchini, and occasional meaty foods such as brine shrimp.

One of the most useful characteristics of the Siamese Algae Eater is its ability to control algae growth in the aquarium. They will happily eat most types of algae, including black beard algae, which can be difficult to remove by other means.
