The Tailspot Blenny, also known as Ecsenius stigmatura, is a small and charismatic saltwater fish species that adds both personality and color to marine aquariums. With its unique appearance and interesting behaviors, the Tailspot Blenny has become a favorite among reef enthusiasts.

Tailspot Blennies have an average size of 2.5 inches, making them suitable for smaller marine tanks of at least 20 gallons. They are known for their perching behavior, often taking up residence in crevices or on rock structures. Their comical "hopping" movement and active nature make them a delightful addition to any aquarium.

These blennies are generally peaceful but may become territorial towards other blennies or similar-looking fish. Therefore, it's best to keep them in a tank with compatible tank mates and provide ample hiding places to establish their territory.

The Tailspot Blenny is an herbivorous fish and primarily feeds on algae. However, they may also accept high-quality commercial foods designed for herbivores, such as algae-based pellets and flakes. Providing a varied diet that includes both vegetable matter and meaty foods will help ensure their nutritional needs are met.

One of the unique traits of the Tailspot Blenny is the dark "spot" or saddle-like marking at the base of their tail, which gives them their name. Their body coloration can vary, ranging from a vibrant blue to a golden-yellow, with vertical stripes adding to their overall appeal.
